Elvis might have left the building, but we have every reason to believe that Leon Fullerton, the tinsel-tongued troubadour, is still knocking around the premises somewhere.

We haven't seen Leon Fullerton since he escaped from his semi-private mental ward in Detroit in 2003, and his whereabouts continues to be a topic of wild speculation and fevered conjecture.

Rumors abound, gossips confound, pundits expound, authorities empound. In earlier words of the barrelhouse bard himself, written to his sister, Cat, after a week wandering, stumbling, and staggering in the Sangre de Cristo range: "When I realized I was lost, I was beside myself. In fact, we both were."

And we'd like to know where. So if you think you've spotted him, tell us about it here. Where was he? What was he doing? Who was he with? Did you talk? How sure are you that it was him? Details, please!

not sure, of course - Leon is a master of disguises. But unsubstantialed rumor has it he MAY have snuck back into his old Naropa haunts in the wee hours of May 14th, 2014. om.

I think I saw Dad in a Safeway parking lot in Daly City. I was on a bus, and the driver wouldn't let me out until the next stop, which was two blocks up in heavy traffic.

So Dad was gone (so was the dog) before I got there. It looked like he'd been trying to rescue a dog locked up in one of those four-door pickup trucks. It was pretty hot out. But he might have just been stealing it. He stole one when I was eight, but I made him give it back.

He told me it was half pig, half wombat. He always had a soft spot for mutts.
